Your Four-Step Guide To Self-Discipline In College

“Self-discipline is the difference between choosing what you want now and what you want most”. This popular quote inspires people across the globe to achieve their goals. This strategy is especially perfect for students who want to study for a big entrance test or even those studying in top PUC colleges in Bangalore or another city. Self-discipline is what helps you reach your potential.
Here are a few ways you can have self-discipline when you study:

Step 1: Eliminate Temptations
You cannot be disciplined if you surround yourself with temptation. Before you start studying ensure that everything that distracts you is out of sight, earshot, or even the window if required. If you are constantly distracted by your phone, switch it off. If clutter distracts you, clean your study area before you open your books. Remove any and all distractions so that you can focus on the subject at hand before you take a break.
Step 2: No Such Thing As Perfect Timing
If you wait for the perfect time to start studying you may find that you haven’t studied at all. Start early so that you have all the time in the world to perfect your understanding of a subject. If you look for them, you will always find something more important to do other than studying for your finals.
Step 3: Take A Break
Taking a break doesn’t translate to abandon all self-discipline and spend hours watching a show online. Schedule mini-breaks in your study sessions. For instance, studying for 45 minutes before you take a 10-minute break is a good plan. Utilize the break to use the washroom, stretch, grab something to eat, and then get back to studying once the 10 minutes are up.
Step 4: Reward Yourself
Sometimes, giving yourself quality rewards can help a lot in self-discipline and willpower. Set up a reward system. For instance, if you have studied for an hour without any distractions, give yourself a reward. The reward could be anything - your favourite coffee, one episode of your favourite show, movie night, or even scrolling through social media for a few minutes.
At the end of the day, your self-discipline is only going to help you. If you are studying in one of the best PUC colleges in Bangalore  or another city, you will need to be disciplined if you want to ace your exams.  If you struggle with discipline. Start small. Self-discipline doesn’t come naturally and taking small steps towards it is completely alright. Start by studying for 20 minutes at a stretch, then gradually increase to 45 minutes.
