How to Choose an MBA Course Without Losing Your Mind

There are over 70 MBA programmes available in India and 4500 MBA colleges that offer them. Choosing a suitable programme from such a long list of MBA courses in Bangalore, Pune and other cities might seem like a daunting task. The following are a few tips that can help simplify this process for you. Keep reading to know how to opt for an MBA programme of your choice without getting a headache.

1. What do you find interesting?

"Do what you love and you will never have to work." This might sound cliche, but it is true. You need to list down some fields which you are passionate about and would love to work in.

2. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Do you have set goals? Do you know how an MBA programme can help you achieve your goals? If not, you should set them now.  Only when you have a rough idea of where you see yourself working, you will know which programme to select. For example, if you see yourself working in a digital marketing company, handling different teams, opt for an MBA in Digital Marketing or in Communication Management.

3. Have you checked the demand for the MBA programme?

Along with your interest, you need to find out if that MBA programme is in demand. For example, the demand for data analytics has soared in the last 5 years and expected to grow even more. If you like the idea of analysing data and using it to make strategic decisions, opt for an MBA in Data Analytics.

4. Are you ready to relocate to pursue the MBA programme?

The programme which you like and is in demand might not be in your city. In such cases, are you ready to relocate to another city or state? If yes, you should jot down top MBA colleges in Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai and other cities which offer that particular programme.

5. What type of an MBA programme do you prefer?

There are two types of MBA programmes offered by many colleges: full-time and part-time. If you are ready to invest two years of your life for learning new things, opt for the first type.

6. Have you checked the eligibility criteria of MBA colleges?

In order to qualify for an MBA programme, you need to check whether you are eligible for it. For example, if you want to apply for an executive MBA programme, you must have at least 2 years of job experience in the relevant industry.

These are a few questions you should ask yourself while selecting an MBA programme. Once you have decided a course and shortlisted colleges, it is time to start applying. All the best!
