4 Myths about Pharmacy that need to be debunked

The demand for pharmacists is increasing all over the country. Whether it is a hospital, research centre or even a medical store, you can find pharmacists everywhere. Thanks to the increasing demand, many students are applying to pharmacy colleges in Bangalore and other cities.

If you are one of these, there are some common things you must have heard about being a pharmacist. Some of these are true, while others could not be farther from the truth. The following is a list of top five myths about the pharmacy industry that need to be busted. Keep reading to find out what those are.

1. Pharmacists just give the prescribed medicines all day

What does a pharmacist do all day? Read prescriptions and provide patients with the right medications. But, is that really it? Probably, not. There are many pharmacists out there who are working for pharmaceutical companies, research centres and making innovations in medication therapy. A career in pharmacy opens doors to varied opportunities, and running a medical store is just one of them.

2. You need to be a scholar to get into pharmacy college

It is not true that only students who have topped their school or college can pursue this course. Many pharmacy colleges in Bangalore have basic eligibility criteria. Here, students need to pass their class 12th with at least 40%. To get into a pharmacy college, you should meet the basic eligibility criteria and have the passion you need to build a career in this field.

3. You will have no time to enjoy life

You will be spending four years of your life in one of the best pharmacy colleges in Bangalore. Here, you will spend time learning new things, performing experiments, completing journals, and preparing for exams. But, your college life won't just be about this. You will have extra-curricular activities, events and more, where you can have fun and enjoy life.

4. Pharmacists are doctors who can't perform surgeries

Studying medical and pharmacy are two different branches of the same tree. Students in each stream learn and perform different tasks. Their curriculum is also completely different. So, please stop thinking a pharmacist is another type of doctor.

These are some of the top misconceptions about pharmacy. If you are a pharmacy student who has heard such things, please take the next step and debunk them.
