Entrance exams you can prepare for while studying in PUC

Being a science student studying in a top PUC college in Bangalore, you must have noticed your peers preparing for entrance exams. These students either want to pursue a career in engineering or medical. Now, if you wish to pursue a BSc and graduate in a subject such as Statistics or Computer Science, only preparing for your 12th PUC is sufficient. However, if you want to follow the footsteps of your peers, you must prepare for the following entrance exams, depending upon your interest in either field.

1. Engineering 

JEE

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is one of the most popular engineering exams in India. It is made up of two parts - JEE Main and JEE Advanced.

By appearing JEE Main, you can apply your scores in National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other engineering colleges. However, if you wish to pursue engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), you also need to appear for JEE Advanced.

BITSAT

Birla Institute of Technology & Science Admission Test (BITSAT) is an engineering entrance exam conducted by Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS), Pilani. It is a leading institute for higher education in India and is highly sought-after amongst students for its engineering course. It has three campuses in Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad, respectively.

MH-CET

Maharashtra Common entrance test or MH-CET is a state-level engineering exam conducted to secure admission in courses offered by colleges in Maharashtra. The syllabus of this exam comprises of topics from 11th and 12th PUC. Hence, its difficulty level is on par with JEE. However, some of India’s top colleges such as Veermata Jijabai Institute of Technology (VJTI) accept MH-CET scores.

2. Medical

NEET

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is an All-India medical exam conducted by CBSE. Considered as a tier 1 exam, it provides admissions for MBBS/BDS courses in government and private colleges. The syllabus for NEET consists of 11th and 12th standard chapters from four sections - Physics, Chemistry, Zoology & Botany.

AIIMS MBBS

AIIMS MBBS is the medical entrance exam for the most popular medical college in India, AIIMS. They are a group of autonomous public medical colleges, where students compete tooth and nail to secure an admission in one of the 50 seats of this premium institute. Therefore, if you’re planning to give this entrance exam, you must obtain an aggregate of 60% in subjects like Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and English in 12th PUC.
